Photo of the Week!

F 5.6; 1/160; ISO 100; 74mm.

Shot in Montreal, Canada.

What’s most striking about Montreal — aside from Mount Royal looming over the downtown area and the (unsurprising) abundance of French — is the vibe of the city.  It’s gritty and industrial in the same way that Boston is, but it also feels far more European than any other major North American city does; when you’re here it’s sometimes hard to believe that you’re in Canada.  When the Old World mixes with the uber-modern, as it does in this photo, the results are remarkable.  When you have an entire urban center like this, it’s jarringly impressive in the best possible way.
