Photo of the Week!

The past five “Photo of the Week” entries all cover the ramifications of the COVID-19 outbreak, and this sixth one is going to be continuing that trend. Life has gone on hold for several months now — for good reason of course — as we all work together to mitigate the effects of the virus. Professional sports too have stopped entirely as a result of these containment efforts and, in the United States, folks are growing unhappy and weary of this. It’s now the first of May (!!!) and in ordinary times, the baseball season is in full swing by now. Alas for 2020… Anxiousness for the National Pastime to return is at a fever pitch (ugh, sorry for all the puns!) and the President himself has even lamented how tired he is “of watching baseball games that are 14 years old!”
Fans, Trump included, might have some relief in the coming weeks. Rumors of a shortened season starting soon have leaked out of Major League Baseball (first reported by USAToday‘s Bob Nightengale). Some rather significant changes would be made; the traditional National and American League structure would be eschewed in favor of three geographic divisions (ie “East,” “Central,” “West”) and, more surprisingly, games would be played with no fans in attendance. There are some kinks to the plan that’ll need to be worked out and we’ll have to see what happens… but perhaps Fenway Park is going to be home to some baseball soon!!!
As was written during the past few weeks, stay safe and hang in there! This too shall pass.
