Photo of the Week!
F 5.6; 1/250; ISO 100; 135mm.
Shot in Hong Kong.
The past few “Photo of the Week” entries have, in various ways, captured and discussed the effects of the ongoing shutdowns, stay-at-home orders, and mandated curfews and quarantines. The world’s been in a slumber, and while there’s still a lot of bad news — social distancing isn’t going away any time soon! — some experts believe that there’s light at the end of this metaphorical tunnel. Granted, the tunnel is quite long, but some optimismis better than none at all. Countries, including China and Italy, are beginning to (cautiously) open back up again, so this week’s photo reflects the spirit of these positive trends. In the picture, a man, alongside his family, manages his produce stall in a downtown Hong Kong marketplace. He smiles as he counts coins; I guess that means business is good? Note that this was taken long before coronavirus or political unrest plagued the city. While there may be a struggle right now, let’s hope his happiness represents what the future has in store for all.
As was written during the past few weeks, stay safe and hang in there until then! This too shall pass.
